Driveway Construction
The pictures below illustrate the typical way in which a block paved driveway is laid.
Attention to detail is required throughout to achieve a good driveway, especially with regard to the preparation and installation of a solid stone / hardcore base, ( which is where less diligent companies are most likely to cut corners). |

The driveway is excavated to a minimum depth of 250mm and a 150mm stone layer is then laid and compacted. |
A 50mm layer of sharp sand is then spread, compacted and leveled to the correct falls ready to receive the paviors. |
The block paviors are laid to the pattern chosen together with any border and kerbs. |

All the perimeter blocks are then cut into the perimeter border blocks. |

Finally "kiln Dried Sand" is brushed in to the completed paving and the blocks are given a final pass with a compactor plate. |
And here we have a completed driveway that will give reliable service for years to come, ( click on the image for a clearer view!) |
Any manhole covers within the paving are exchanged for recessed covers, helping to disguise them from view. |
Drainage is always planned and discussed from the start with advice given on the current planning rules. |
